Chair for the day Warryn welcome guest speaker  Adrien and Fleur, and also welcomed his guest Andre, and Richard's "long suffering" brother John.

President Jim proposed the International Toast to the Rotary Club of Madrid, Spain – chartered 1921.

Thanks for the photos Roger

President Jim proceeded to read out his PHD Thesis on the Rotary Club’s of Spain and their challenges with fascism, but, long story short, they restarted in 1976 after Franco died.

For the full two pages of information, please contact Roger, who has the print outs, and would be happy to fold them up into pair of paper aeroplanes and fly in your direction from the Signal Station at Tuesday’s breakfast.

(Sorry - my head got a bit mangled in the surf yesterday - five stitches - but fortunately my surfboard is undamaged)

President Jim delivered his report.
  • He acknowledged Warren‘s guest, Andre, and Richard’s brother John.
  • Thanks to Renae who has organised our membership of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • He has been speaking with Fedral member Andrew Wallace regarding the Centaur memorial. Andrew noted that there were “cutbacks“ at Federal level, but he welcomed the proposal and awaited more information on the design and costings.
  • Warren and Bob attended the Rotary lunch in Mooloolaba - they actually “gate crashed” it, but since a number of guests were attending Mike Ahern’s funeral, they were able to be accommodated.
  • Thanks Darryl for organising next weeks meeting at the Caloundra Lighthouses
  • RYDA – in excess of 2300 kids have attended the program this year
  • Andre’s membership application pending.

Warryn – reported on the mental health lunch
Sleep bus, September– Pink bus

Richard introduced Adrian. Unfortunately, issues with his new glasses prevented him from actually delivering any pertinent information,
but I was able to copy and paste the meeting agenda.

Adrian lives on the Sunshine Coast with his wife and three children.
Adrian is a qualified property professional with over 20 years’ experience in urban planning and development in both the private and public sectors.
Adrian was appointed the new Sunshine Coast Regional Manager towards the end of 2018, overseeing a team of over 40 people with five community development projects including two city building projects, Oceanside and Australia’s largest master planned community project in single ownership – Aura.
Prior to November 2018 Adrian was the Project Director for Aura and has worked on the project for last 9 years. He has transformed the site from rural zoned land to developing a comprehensive master plan to guide the development of this city building project.
Adrian is a member on the Queensland Divisional Council for the Property Council of Australia.
Prior to Stockland, Adrian was employed at Urbis from 2002 to 2008 and Caloundra City Council from 1998 to 2002.

Adrian started his address with an “ask me any questions“ invitation.

He has been with Stockland for 23 years.
20,000 families have been housed through their endeavours.
They aspire to be “the most sustainable“ company.
They have delivered $1 million in community grants and have given land for schools

They launched Aura in 2014 – and have recently speeded up delivery to assist with current housing challenges.
Baringa, Nirimba, Banya, Aura Lakes.

Bells Creek arterial - 9km - “largely complete“

Halls Creek – debate.

Caboolture, West – 16 years in the pipeline, Palmview - 14 years, Aura 13 1/2 years – too slow for the current housing crisis.

The SEQ Plan revisions anticipate 70% infill and 60,000 new dwellings required in the Maroochydore/Caloundra area.

Beerwah East is further from existing Aura infrastructure, and is currently pine plantation.

Inter urban break– “where to draw line“

Aura South - an impartial federal government process will make the decision.

High-rise development is difficult for developers to make a profit.

Environmental values of the Aura South site – threats to the Mount Emu she-oak, and acid frogs (live in the furrows between the cut pine trees where acidity suits them) Migrating birds. The passage has issues as it has tidal influences to the north and south, but flushing in the central area is more difficult.

The Aura South site ranges from 23 m above sea level down to 8 m.

Existing services - Aura South will mean less government costs for development.

Judy asked about the arterial road – single or dual lanes?  Answer - single currently, but has been designed to accommodate an additional two lanes. $130 million – Stockland funded.

Stephen asked about the size of blocks - answer from 600 square metres down to ..

Oops didn't write that one down, but this one at Banya is 213m2

Chris noted concerns about the boundary condition – residents tend to “creep into the protected area“ – halo effect. - How would it be defined?– earth mound/fence?
A - We would work through that.

Mark asked about the Stockland grants, and how the Rotary Club of Caloundra could partner?
A - Grant round in May next year – talk to Charlotte, who has just started with Stockland. There are three types $1000 to $5000, $10-$20,000, and up to $50,000.

Jim thanked Adrian for his talk

Mark announce that his daughter Olivia was getting married and invited us to live link to the service.

Darryl reported on preparations for our meeting at the lighthouses – catered by Gateway.

Judy – Anna…(sorry - missed that one too)

Sergeant Richard practised some Dad jokes on us

And in the social pages
