Jim delivered the President’s Report
  • Good to see Ana here.
  • He showed Morgan the Centaur – there are some fairly heavy duty construction works in the area at the moment.
  • He’s been out to Duck Holes Creek to cuddle the trees.
  • Council Grant coming up?

Richard introduced Deborah to introduce Kim

"I've recently returned from volunteering in Bali, a little village 20 minutes out from UBUd called Pejeng. Initially we signed up for construction at The Green Lion Kindergarten, but they soon discovered I worked in a Primary School & my skills could be put to better use in designing the learning walls for the classrooms. We completed a classroom in 3.5weeks all painted by hand, a huge feat given sub-standard equipment. My goal now is to collect & donate items to consolidate the English language that is being taught by providing books in English and learning resources. We plan on returning in Term 3, 2024 for 2mths. Helping them integrate the learning resources into their Curriculum to obtain greater outcomes for the students from an early age, as we all know early intervention is key. I'm seeking help in freighting these items over to Bali.

Kim was “nervous as anything, and acknowledged her partner in crime, Carol.
They went to Bali to immerse themselves in the culture, and got involved in the educational side at Pejeng, population 30,000. They were among a number of international volunteers.
Where does the funding go? 45% goes into programs and services, 5% goes into teaching resources.
Why did we volunteer? “For the children”
They worked on a learn learning wall.

The kindergarten took six years to build.
They were able to embrace Balinese culture.

Connecting with community.
